Dodge City High School Senior, Stephanie Ortega, has been awarded the 2024 Riederer Family Scholarship. Ortega was selected for her active involvement in high school activities, community involvement, and excellent scholastic resume.
The Riederer Family Scholarship is a $20,000 scholarship awarded each school year beginning with the class of 2021.
Stephanie was a Varsity letter winner in DCHS Cheer, Drill Team, Band, Swimming, and Wrestling. She was captain for both cheer and drill team. She was Section Leader of the Year for band and received the Gold Star and Gunsmoke awards.
She is a two-time All-American NCA cheerleader and was twice named to the All-TOC Cheer Team. She was also selected to the All-Academic All-TOC Cheer Team. Ortega was also a three-time, All-Academic, All-WAC selection and member of the National Honor Society.
Louie Riederer is a 1973 graduate of Dodge City High School. In announcing the winner, Riederer expressed how pleased the committee was in the quality of the finalists. The committee selected Ortega due to her work ethic, commitment to furthering her education, her well-written essay, and her dedication to Dodge City High School and the community of Dodge City.
Stephanie plans to attend Dodge City Community College – before transferring to Wichita State University. Her plan is to major in Psychology and become a Pediatric Occupational Therapist.
